Police in Kasama District have launched investigations into the death of a 51-year-old man whose body was discovered in a grassland area in Kalupa Village in Senior Chief Mwamba.
Northern Province Police Commissioner Simunji Mulonda who confirmed the incident in Kasama, has identified the deceased as Davy Mwamba.
Mr Mulonda said Mwamba’s body was found on Monday, June 1, 2026, at about 16:00 hours, lying facing down in a grassy area approximately 30 metres from the Itinti Road.
Mulonda explained that Mwamba had travelled to Kalupa village on May 30, 2026, to attend the funeral of his younger sister.
The Police Commanding Officer revealed that when Mwamba failed to return, family members and community members began searching for him until his body was discovered two days later.
“Police officers who visited the scene confirmed the body was in a semi-decomposed state. Preliminary examination revealed no visible external injuries, though fluid was observed oozing from the mouth and nose,” Mr Mulonda stated.
