Students at Kapasa Makasa University in Chinsali District, Muchinga Province, have congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election.

‎The students say they are happy that he has been given another mandate to govern the country.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Kapasa Makasa University Student Union President Gift Siangwa said the election outcome demonstrates that Zambians want continued development, job opportunities, and positive change.

Mr Siangwa further said young people will continue supporting President Hichilema throughout his tenure of office, adding that they are looking forward to more opportunities.

“As young people, we will continue supporting you during your tenure of office, and we will continue improving and changing until we bring Zambia back to what it should be,” he said.

He commended the UPND government for implementing initiatives such as free education, restoring meal allowances for students, among other social programmes, saying the interventions have benefited many Zambians.

Mr Siangwa also commended Zambians for maintaining peace during the elections and urged citizens to remain united despite their different political affiliations.

“We are all one, and we should continue as one nation. We are happy that you are back in power, and we look forward to more job opportunities and development,” he added.

The students, after the announcement of results, moved into celebratory gear, singing and dancing to thank President Hichilema.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) today, declared President Hichilema as president for another five years after beating his closest rival Brian Mundubile of the National Restoration Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) and 11 other candidates.
