THE Kabwe Magistrates’ Court has found a 24-year-old man with a case to answer in a matter in which he is charged with defilement.

Kabwe Resident Magistrate Sebastian Mwenya has since put Levy Tebulo on his defence after the prosecution closed its case.

This follows testimony from the State’s final key witness, gynecologist Wisdom Banda of Kabwe Central Hospital, who told the court that he examined the complainant and found an injury to the hymen.

After considering the evidence presented by the prosecution, Magistrate Mwenya ruled that the accused had a case to answer and directed him to begin his defence.

“I have gone through the evidence presented by the prosecution and find you with a case to answer, therefore, I put you on your defense,” ruled the court.

The court heard that Tebulo is alleged to have had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16 between February 3rd and February 14th, 2026, in Kabwe District.

After being informed of his rights, Tebulo opted to give sworn evidence in his defence and indicated that he would not call any witnesses.

“I’m going to give you a chance to go and prepare for your defence, and I wish you good luck,” said Magistrate Mwenya. 

The matter has been adjourned to October 1st, 2026, for commencement of the defence case whilst Tebulo remains in custody.
