NALOLO District Commissioner Namatama Mupo has called for an urgent solution to the water crisis that has hit Kaunga Lueti community in Nalolo West Bank.

The water reticulation plant at Kaunga Lueti Primary School, which services about 4,000 people has been non-operational since the first week of September, 2026.

An assessment conducted by Nalolo Town Council after the community reported the matter, established that the pump controller and surge protective device need replacement.

“Water is life and as such, there is a need to tackle water issues with urgency, as delaying would lead to waterborne diseases and possible closure of the school where the water scheme is located,” said Mrs Mupo.

And District Disaster Management Officer Annie Phiri assured the District Commissioner that documents requesting for funds will be prepared and once the funds are available, the committee will ensure that the water plant is worked so that the Kaunga Lueti community can have access to clean and safe water again.

Responding to the DC, Acting Nalolo District Agricultural Coordinator (DACO) Patience Munalula said El Nino sensitisation meetings are ongoing and Agriculture Camp Officers are currently engaging farmers on venturing into smart agriculture and what to expect in view of climate change effects.
