Application preparation
Heavy-equipment repair searches can include mechanic, auto-electrical, tyre, planning and maintenance-support work. These roles have different trade, authorisation and experience requirements. Record your actual trade scope
List the qualification exactly as issued, followed by relevant employment, apprenticeship or supervised training. Identify equipment categories only where truthful and permitted. Seeing a machine on site is not the same as diagnosing or repairing it.
Separate tasks you completed from inspection, testing or release performed by an authorised person. Do not claim engineering approval or specialist systems experience because your team included someone with that responsibility.
Create a fault-report exercise
Use a fictional asset and record operator report, time received, visible observation, work-order reference, person notified, status and handover. Avoid technical settings or instructions. The exercise should show clear information flow before authorised diagnosis begins.
Add one ambiguous symptom and list the questions or records that would need verification. Do not guess a component failure simply to complete the form. Good maintenance evidence distinguishes reported symptom, observation, confirmed finding and action.
Build work-order evidence
For a real but non-confidential CV example, state the assigned task, authorised instruction, your contribution, quality check and closure record. Remove asset identifiers, production data and protected site information. If another tradesperson verified the repair, credit that control.
Create a second fictional example involving a required part that is unavailable. Show how status, preservation, requisition and handover would be recorded through the employer process. Do not present an improvised substitute as initiative.
Tailor the CV
Lead with the advertised trade and recent relevant setting. Use bullets connecting work performed, control followed and documented outcome. Avoid an unsupported list claiming competence on every truck, loader and electrical system.
Planners or clerks should emphasise work-order quality, backlog records, parts coordination and accurate status updates rather than claiming mechanic duties. Graduate or apprentice candidates can show supervised assignments and learning records without overstating independence.
Prepare for assessment
Expect to explain how you receive a work order, confirm scope, record an unexpected condition and obtain authorisation. Answer within your training and employer procedures. It is safer to acknowledge a boundary than to invent a repair method.
Before applying, verify employer, contractor relationship, roster, location, licence and medical requirements. Submit through the current official route, protect personal documents and never pay for an assessment result or placement. Keep the advert and confirmation so later contact can be checked.
