Stakeholders in Kabompo District of Northwestern Province have commended the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for the transparency in the delivery of ballot papers for the August 13, 2026 General Elections.

Speaking after witnessing the arrival of ballot papers for Kabompo East and West Constituencies yesterday, United Party for National Development (UPND) District Chairlady, Grace Mazaka, says the arrival of ballot paper in the district is a relief to political parties and other stakeholders that are participating in this year’s election.

“The long-awaited moment has finally arrived, the upcoming election day is important to us as a party,” she said.

Ms Mazaka dismissed allegations of malpractice circulating in some quarters, stating that ballot papers and boxes remained fully intact.

“We have all witnessed the arrival of the ballots papers for the two constituencies and ballot papers are intact and sealed and we want to remind other political parties to take note that the UPND does not get involved in any electoral malpractice,” she said.

 Independent Aspiring Candidates Representative, David Kapwepwe, described the process as transparent.

“The ballot materials were received, verified, and documented upon arrival and serial numbers were recorded and photographed and all materials were signed with no signs of tampering,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kabompo West Returning Officer, Costa Namakando, said the ballot papers are secured with 24hours security from the police.
