IT IS CORRUPTION TO GIVE JOBS AT RALLIES SAYS FR MWANGO
Rev Fr Martin Mwango of Regina Pacis Catholic Parish in Chawama preached that it is not only ethically wrong but constitutes a form of electoral malpractice and manipulation to give jobs at political rallies.

Rev Fr Mwango urges young voters not to be swayed or intimidated by candidates who dangle job offers as bait in campaign rallies.
He asked why a person can give jobs to people now at rally when they had years in office to do so.

Rev Fr Mwango said that such promises exploit the aspirations and unemployment challenges faced by many youths but rarely translate into actual employment after the elections. Instead, they undermine democratic values by turning elections into transactions rather than genuine expressions of the people’s will.

He said that electoral malpractice, including vote-buying and manipulation, distorts fair competition and weakens trust in democratic institutions.

When politicians use job offers to influence votes, they blur the line between legitimate campaigning and corruption.
Rev Fr Mwango’s advice is clear: do not fear standing firm against unethical tactics.
