ISRAEL REPORTEDLY PREPARES POSSIBLE ICC CASE AGAINST ERDOGAN

Israel is reportedly preparing a legal case against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that could potentially be referred to the International Criminal Court (ICC), according to Israeli media outlet i24NEWS.

The reported case would focus on allegations concerning Erdoğan’s position on the Kurdish issue and Turkey’s support for Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly instructed a team of legal experts to begin preparing a dossier that could be used in a potential case against the Turkish president.

According to the report, Israel may seek to have another country or third party formally submit the case to the ICC on its behalf.

The development is particularly notable because the ICC previously issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu over alleged crimes in connection with the Gaza conflict. Netanyahu has repeatedly rejected the court’s jurisdiction and said he does not recognize the warrant.
