Government says entrepreneurship is being positioned not only as a path to personal wealth, but as a direct response to financial challenges at community level.
The Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), says creating safe and structured market spaces through industrial yards is key to unlocking business growth and job creation.
A joint team from the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Eastern Province administration today toured the Chipata Industrial Yard to assess operations, progress and challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
The visit aimed to engage business owners operating in the yard and to identify interventions that can make the space more functional and profitable.
Speaking when the team paid a courtesy call on his office in Chipata, Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Paul Thole emphasised the need for entrepreneurs to leverage emerging technologies to economically empower themselves and their families.
Mr Thole noted that technology is no longer optional for business, but that entrepreneurs must embrace it if they are to compete and grow their enterprises.
He also expressed hope that more people from Eastern Province can be accommodated in the industrial yard, adding that expanding it would help many more citizens benefit from government support.
