Indo Zambia Bank says its agriculture financing portfolio has grown to about K3.3 billion as it scales up support for farmers under the Government’s Grow Zambia Agenda.

The bank has disbursed nearly K400 million to more than 3,600 farmers under its Sustainable Agriculture Financing Facility, Board Chairman Dr. Michael Gondwe said during a courtesy call on Finance and National Planning Minister Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane in Lusaka.

Gondwe said the bank will continue to finance maize, soybeans, wheat, livestock, agro-processing and agricultural value addition.

He said an additional K300 million is earmarked for the soybean sector and another US$15 million for wheat production before the end of the year.

The increased agriculture support is part of a broader strategy to finance productive sectors that drive production, exports and job creation, including energy, mining, tourism, manufacturing and infrastructure, he said.
