THE Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has suspended the broadcasting licences of four stations for 30 days over non-payment of annual operating fees and breaches of the 2026 Election Coverage Guidelines.

IBA Director General and Board Secretary, Webster Malido stated that the affected stations are 3FM Radio of Chipata, Mungu FM Radio of Mongu, Healing TV of Lusaka and KBN TV.

Mr Malido explained in a statement that 3FM Radio, Mungu FM Radio and Healing TV had been suspended for failing to settle their outstanding 2026 annual operating fees, which fell due on January 1, 2026.

Mr Malido said the suspensions followed the exhaustion of regulatory procedures, including hearings held on February 16, 2026, and a grace period that ran until April 30, 2026.

He disclosed that the suspensions of the three stations are subject to the settlement of the outstanding annual operating fees.

Meanwhile, KBN TV has been suspended for breaching the 2026 Election Coverage Guidelines and other broadcasting standards.

Mr Malido said the suspension followed the station’s appearance before the Ad-Hoc Committee to respond to allegations of unbalanced discussions, broadcasting unverified information, failure to provide alternative viewpoints and the right to reply, as well as inadequate programme moderation.
