MINISTER of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane says Zambia is on a path of progressive growth following the stabilisation of the economy in the last five years.

Dr Musokotwane said following the stabilisation of the economy, President Hakainde Hichilema set out a vision for growing the economy in line with the Grow Zambia Agenda.

He explained that much of the country’s economic growth will be export-driven, supported by the massive expansion of various exports.

The Minister was speaking during the 2026 combined second and third quarter National Development Coordinating Committee (NDCC) meeting in Lusaka on Friday. 

He further encouraged collaboration through foreign direct investment (FDI), stating that every investment made in or brought into the country contributes to job creation, among other benefits.

“If current trends continue, GDP growth will be even better, demonstrating that Zambia is making good economic progress,” he said.

And Secretary to the Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa who was represented by Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Siazongo Siakalenge emphasised the importance of advancing the Grow Zambia Agenda to promote economic growth. 

And Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), Kusobile Kamwambi highlighted the Grow Zambia Agenda’s goal as the government’s mechanism to double the economy by 2031.
