NZOVU RESPONDS TO LINDA BANKS

I have come across an article by Linda Banks questioning who the President will be meeting in Abu Dhabi when the country is mourning.

Ignorance is very dangerous. For clarity: Abu Dhabi is not Dubai. They are two separate emirates within the United Arab Emirates.

A 10-day mourning period was declared in the Emirate of Dubai following the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the youngest brother of Dubai’s Ruler. That decree applies specifically to Dubai.

In Abu Dhabi — which is the federal capital and where the President’s official engagements are — normal government and business operations continue. The UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, issued condolences to Dubai, but Abu Dhabi remains open for official business.

The deliberate attempts by some disgruntled individuals to undermine the Presidency and paint Zambia black are worrying. No patriotic Zambian should work day and night to de-market their own country.

We encourage our colleagues to mourn their election loss with dignity and patriotism. Whether one likes it or not, Hakainde Hichilema is President of the Republic of Zambia.

Those who wish the President ill will be put to shame. God is protecting the President and his family, and no weapon formed against him shall prosper.
