HAIMBE MEETS US CHARGÉ D’AFFAIRES IN LUSAKA

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, S.C., M.P. received the United States Chargé d’Affaires to Zambia, Mr Mich Coker, at Charter House in Lusaka on Wednesday.

The two discussed matters of mutual interest to Zambia and the United States.

The meeting is among the first engagements Mr Haimbe has held with a foreign mission since returning to the foreign affairs portfolio, having been reappointed to Cabinet earlier this week at the start of President Hakainde Hichilema’s renewed mandate.

At his swearing-in, the President directed the Foreign Affairs Minister to prioritise economic diplomacy and investment promotion while safeguarding national sovereignty, a brief that places trade and investment at the centre of Zambia’s engagement with partner countries.

The United States remains among Zambia’s significant bilateral partners, with cooperation spanning health, trade, agriculture and security.
