Government says K67 million is being spent on the refurbishment and expansion of Parliament Motel to accommodate the increased number of Members of Parliament.
Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Permanent Secretary Professor Albert Malama says the project, being undertaken by Eco Sense, is currently 30 percent complete.
In an interview, Prof Malama says the works include removing the asbestos roof, expanding the kitchen and dining facilities, and refurbishing the administration block, laundry, guardhouse and external areas.
He says the motel is also being upgraded to improve accessibility for Members of Parliament living with disabilities.
Prof Malama says the project is expected to be completed and handed over to the National Assembly by the end of October.
