THE Department of Health Services in Chipangali District of Eastern Province has revealed that malaria incidents in the district have significantly reduced to a range of about 50 per 1000, compared to 1021 per 1000, about 3 years ago. 

Chipangali District Health Promotions Officer Mutale Musonda noted that Chipangali has had a history of high malaria incidences as high as 1,021 per 1000.

Mr Musonda disclosed that during the year 2025, the district began to experience a significant reduction in malaria cases with notable improvement beginning in the second quarter of 2025. 

He said the district noted a significant reduction of 200 cases per 1000 during the second quarter of 2025, and that margins continued to reduce with a significant drop from 200 per 1000 in the second quarter of 2025 to 55.6 per thousand in the second quarter of 2026.
