Zambia’s former High Commissioner to South Africa and Ambassador to Ethiopia, Emmanuel Mwamba says unidentified people claiming to be police officers from Lusaka Force Headquarters driving CAF 4273 have picked prominent Lusaka businessman, Harry Valden Findlay from his farm in Chisamba and driven him away.
Posting on his social media handle Mwamba did not give further details, nor information on what could be the reason behind the incident.
“Unkown and unidentified people claiming to be police officers from Lusaka Force Headquarters driving CAF 4273 have picked prominent Lusaka businessman, Harry Valden Findlay from his farm in Chisamba and driven him away,” he posted.
Apparently, soon after the post, a lot of people reacted in the comments section, some saying it could be politically motivated.
“Very concerning indeed.
Some people are speculating that it could be on suspicion that he’s funding one of the opposition presidential candidates.
“Of course it isn’t an offense to finance a politician’s campaign.
It’s a right within the freedom of choice and freedom of association.
“However these are just speculation from the concerned public.
If it’s true that he’s been picked by the police, then they owe the public and explanation.
“Well let’s wait and see. Maybe the police will inform us about this development through their PRO as they usually do.
As at now we can only pray for him and his family,” said one follower.
“When a party wants to rig elections, it will lock up or abduct any technology expert who can detect the scheme, the same happened to Xavier. I hope that’s not the case in zambia,” said another.
“Police officers should normalise summoning people to their offices. This kind of behaviour is what breeds kidnapping and abductions. Criminals always take advantage of such,” another followers said
Elias Kaoma chipped in: “Amazing scenes! A state transformed into an enemy of its citizens! Anyone who is not part of the hyenas pack is in danger of being harmed! Beware the wild dogs are at rampage! Prepare your defenses well. The voter’s card is one of them!”
