LUSAKA, Zambia – The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has dismissed reports suggesting that it recently contacted popular Zambian musicians Shenky Shugah, Chester More Power, Rich Bizzy and Kadafi to demand proof of tax compliance.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, ZRA clarified that it has not reached out to any of the named artists regarding their tax affairs.

“ZRA has not in any way reached out to Shenky, Chester, Rich Bizzy and Kadafi, demanding proof of tax compliance,” the authority stated.

The tax collector further urged members of the public to safeguard the professionalism and integrity of the institution by avoiding the spread of unverified information.

The clarification comes amid growing social media discussions surrounding tax compliance among public figures, including musicians and entertainers.

ZRA emphasized that all taxpayers, regardless of their profession or status, are expected to voluntarily comply with the country’s tax laws.

The authority reiterated that tax compliance remains a civic responsibility and encouraged individuals and businesses to meet their obligations without waiting for enforcement action.

The statement has since attracted reactions from social media users, with many welcoming the clarification while others called for greater awareness on tax compliance within Zambia’s entertainment industry.

Tax revenue plays a crucial role in funding government services and national development programmes, making voluntary compliance essential for economic growth.

ZRA continues to encourage taxpayers to seek information through its official communication channels and to verify claims before sharing them online.

The authority’s latest statement appears aimed at correcting misinformation while reinforcing its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and fair administration of Zambia’s tax system.
