ZEROS SEND SEAN TEMBO INTO RETIREMENT POLITICS
Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) leader Sean Tembo has announced his retirement from active politics, ending a decade-long political journey that began exactly 10 years ago today.
In a statement issued from Liberty House on 20th August 2026, Tembo said the decision came after "careful consideration and extensive consultations with family and friends," and takes effect immediately.
He noted the symbolic timing of the announcement, coming precisely 10 years since he founded PeP. While acknowledging that he was never elected to public office during that time, Tembo said he remained proud of his political contributions, particularly the party's annual Alternative National Budgets and the body of legal precedent generated through numerous political cases he pursued in the High Court and Constitutional Court of Zambia.
Reflecting on his decade in politics, Tembo expressed gratitude for the relationships he built along the way, thanking the many friends, acquaintances, and supporters who backed his political career over the years.
As he transitions into private life, Tembo said he would continue praying for God's blessings on Zambia.
