The Zambia Cyber Security Agency (ZCSA) has moved into new offices that will serve as the agency’s operational hub to enhance the country’s capacity to respond to cyber incidents.

Speaking during the handover ceremony of the new ZCSA offices today, Director General, Schmidt Chintu said the agency previously operated from government offices owned by Smart Zambia, where space constraints limited staff accommodation and key functions.

He noted that the move to the new premises will enable the entire ZCSA team to work together in one space with full access to a range of cyber security tools.

“Moving here now to this place that will be the citadel of the Zambia Cyber Security Agency gives an opportunity for us to work as a full team in one space, and with access to an entire kaleidoscope of tools in order to serve the Zambian cyber ecosystem better than we were able to do in the shared smaller spaces,” he said.

Mr Chintu said the new location, at the corner of Castle and Pule road near the Energy Regulation Board and Longacres Mall, provides a clear and accessible address for reporting cyber incidents.

“It sets us to deliver without many constraints that we had, and also it gives us an address that is non ambiguous and it’s easy for people to find us,” he said.

He described cyberspace as an ecosystem that must be secured to enable innovation and growth, comparing cyber threats to nails on digital streets that must be cleared for safe passage.

Mr Chintu further urged the public to be cyber savvy to help reduce preventable cybercrime.

“We need to educate ourselves as the public, if we do that, there will be few crimes coming the way of the cyber security agencies,” he said.

“Not being gullible and being cyber savvy or internet savvy keeps you away from even raising a report towards the cyber security agency,” he said
