Zambia : RUGBY: Mufulira Opens 10-point Lead

Defending Champions Mufulira Leopards have extended their lead at the top of the National Rugby League to ten points with five games remaining in the 2026 season.

Mufulira at the weekend beat their closest rivals Arrows 19-15 at home in Mufulira to move to 39 points after playing nine games.

Second placed Arrows, who have one un-played game, have 29 points from eight matches played.

On the road to victory, Mufulira posted one try which they converted and later scored three penalties and had one drop goal.

Arrows converted one of the two tries they placed and later scored a penalty.

Nkwazi are third on the table with 29 points as well after edging Buffaloes 26-23 in a tightly contested Lusaka derby.
Buffaloes are fourth on the table just two points behind third placed Nkwazi.

Elsewhere struggling giants Diggers returned to league action after a lengthy absence with a 13-8 away loss to Eagles in Kabwe.

Eagles are fifth on the table with 21 points in nine matches and are placed one slot above Diggers, who are six points behind the Zambia National Service side.

Meanwhile, the bottom two sides KPF and Kansanshi shared the 15-15 spoils to stay in their respective positions.

Seventh placed Kansanshi have six points in nine matches while bottom positioned KPF sits on one point from eight games.

KPF remains the only team without a win so far in the 2026 National Rugby League.
