Zambia : Police Apprehend Kalulushi Girl Over Dumped Baby's Body
Lusaka - Zambia: Police in Kalulushi have apprehended a 15 year old girl for allegedly dumping the body of a newborn baby at a dump site.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Rae Hamoonga, who confirmed the development to ZANIS, said the incident occurred between August 27, 2027 at around 17:30 hours and September 05, 2026 at around 17:00 hours at Kafulafuta Lane in Milemu Clinic area.
Mr Hamoonga said the matter was reported to Kalulushi Police Station by a 39 year old woman who discovered the body of a new born baby boy wrapped in a plastic bag lying on top of garbage at the dump site near Milemu clinic.
Mr Hamoonga said the information obtained by Officers who visited the scene led to the apprehension of the girl suspected to be connected to the incident which is being investigated as suspected infanticide.
He said the girl was taken to Kalulushi General Hospital together with the body and during preliminary inquiries, disclosed that she had unexpectedly given birth while using the toilet after which she is alleged to have wrapped the baby in a plastic bag and disposed of the body at the dumpsite.
He said the body has since been deposited at Kalulushi General Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination to establish the circumstances leading to the death of the baby.
Mr Haoongaa disclosed that the girl has been admitted at the same hospital for further medical examination and treatment under Police guard.
He stated that a medical report has been issued and a docket opened.
