President Hichilema notes that his administration has, in the past four years and eleven months, taken care of farmers, vulnerable people, the aged, single parents and all Zambians in the country to ease their sufferings but will do much more if re-elected in the August 13, 2026 General Elections.
He said districts that are lagging behind in terms of infrastructure development will receive a fair share of national development in all key sectors of the economy.
The Head of State was speaking today at Mafuta Primary School Grounds in Chipangali District in Eastern Province during a community engagement where thousands of local people gathered to listen to him.
“I have come here so that we can make an important decision for us and our children and your grandchildren. This is a decision that will allow us to continue developing this country,” President Hichilema said.
The President said improved road infrastructure is key for stimulating economic development and enhancing service delivery, hence his government is working tirelessly to work on roads in Chipangali district.
“Voting for the UPND and all its candidates means that your children, your grandchildren and their children will continue to go to school for free,” he explained.
President Hichilema stated that his government will drill boreholes and construction dams in Chipangali district for irrigation and livestock to enhance the agriculture sector.
He also said the government will address the issue of tobacco prices so that the people of Chipangali and other areas can get value for their labour in the agriculture sector.
President Hichilema reiterated that farmers who will sell their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) will be paid within three days of supplying their crops.
He added that the government will further improve the agriculture sector to guarantee food security in the country through providing full packs of farming inputs such as fertiliser and seeds under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
In the education sector, the President reiterated that the government will build public universities in all provinces that currently don’t have such education facilities Zambia.
President Hichilema announced that Eastern Province will be the first to have a public university among the six provinces without such institutions of higher learning.
He added that Chipangali district is poised for development partly because of the delimiting of the constituency into Chipangali East and West.
The President observed that this will increase the amount of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in the district every year.
President Hichilema added that Chipangali District will also have a skills training centre for local youths to acquire trades in carpentry, bricklaying and others.
Mr Hichilema stressed the importance of voting for continued development and appealed to the people of Chipangali to vote for the UNPD next week on Thursday.
Meanwhile, UPND Alliance Partners urged the people of Chipangali East and West constituencies to vote for all UPND candidates because President Hichilema has a proven track record of keeping promises to develop Zambia.
