Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka has begun life in Germany after signing a one-year contract with Bundesliga side Hamburg SV.

He was officially unveiled by the club on Wednesday.

Daka, 27, was club-less since the expiry of his contract at English side Leicester City at the end of the 2025/2026 season.

He was part of the Wednesday training after joining his new teammates.

Daka told the club media: “I’m very happy to be here and can’t wait to get started. I’m a passionate and energetic player whose job is to score goals. I believe I can help the team by doing exactly that.”

He spent five years at Leicester City but suffered demotion twice to from the Premier League to League One with the Foxes.

“I’ve watched a few HSV matches. It’s an exciting team, and I’m delighted to now be part of it. The club’s management gave me a very warm welcome and made me feel from the very beginning that this is a family environment.”

“The overall package made perfect sense to me, so I didn’t have to think for long. The many positive conversations made the decision an easy one,” Daka added.

He appeared cheerful during training.
