Kitwe’s Nkana Golf Club have won the 2026 Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) National Quadrangular Tournament after edging three other regional representatives at the Lusaka Golf Club.

Nkana ended with 74 points, 11 better than their closest competitor, Bonanza Golf Club.

2024 champions, Mazabuka Golf Club, emerged third with 45 points while defending champions Nchanga finished last with just 34 points.

The National Quadrangular brings four Zambian regional winners to a national tournament and is considered the premier club tournament in the country.

ZGU President Mohammed Bhagoo hailed champions Nkana and all participants for their resilience.

Bhagoo called for unity in the sport saying harmony is key to growing the sport.

He said: “When our clubs are united, our members are engaged and our executives work together, Zambian golf becomes stronger. This creates a better environment for our players, our juniors, our sponsors and, most importantly, for the future development of our sport.”

“There will always be differences of opinion. That is natural in any organization. What is important is how we deal with those differences and its better through dialogue, understanding, cooperation and respect, rather than allowing them to divide us,” Bhagoo said.

Bhagoo pledged ZGU’s commitment to developing golf across the country by strengthening clubs and creating opportunities for the next generation of golfers.

Meanwhile, Nkana’s elite amateur golfer Dominic Musonda won the Johnnie Walker Uganda Amateur Open title with a nine-under-par 279, three shots better than fellow Zambian Gilbert Chalwe, who finished second.

Another Zambian, Musamba Kapoma Jnr, finished fifth.

“Their success is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through discipline, dedication and hard work. They have set a high standard and shown our young golfers what is possible,” Bhagoo said.
