Milenge District Agricultural Coordinator, Bright Chota has disclosed that the FRA has purchased 6,378.55 metric tonnes of maize as of September 2nd, 2026 with a total crop value of over K44.27 million.
Mr Chota said over K22.91 million has already been paid to 681 farmers.
“We have so far served 1,418 farmers, and out of this number, 681 farmers have been paid while 737 farmers are still due for payment,” Mr Chota said.
He stated that the FRA will soon be releasing the outstanding payment balance of over K21.36 million owed to farmers whose produce has already been purchased.
Mr Chota further observed that the FRA operationalised ten depots in the district to facilitate the purchase of the crop and ensure farmers have access to designated buying points.
