Zambia : Omnia Starts Fertilizer Plant Construction

Omnia, in partnership with Government, has commissioned the construction of a fertilizer blending plant in Lusaka.

Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA said the project is a major step in Zambia’s agricultural transformation agenda.

Mr. KANGWA said the facility will produce soil-specific fertilizer blends aimed at improving soil health, increasing crop yields and boosting productivity among farmers across the country.

He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary JOHN MULONGOTI during the ground-breaking ceremony.

Meanwhile, Omnia Fertilizer Country Manager NIGEL SEABROOK said the investment will allow the company to produce customised fertilizer blends based on the soil nutrient requirements of different farming regions in Zambia.

Mr. SEABROOK said the project will support Government’s efforts to increase agricultural productivity by providing farmers with science-based fertilizer solutions to improve yields.

And Omnia Fertilizer Logistics and Distribution Manager PETER AHMED said the facility will receive, process, blend, package and distribute fertilizer products suited to the changing needs of Zambia’s agricultural sector.
