The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has delivered ballot papers for Mbala Central and Saise Constituencies in Mbala District ahead of the August 13 General Elections.

The verification exercise is underway in the presence of key stakeholders in the electoral process.

ECZ Personal Assistant, Wilfridah Banda, said the Commission is pleased with the strong stakeholder participation, noting that more than 10 representatives from political parties, civil society organisations and the media witnessed the arrival and physical verification of the ballot papers.

Ms Banda said the exercise demonstrates the Commission’s commitment to conducting a transparent and credible electoral process.

And Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Mbala District Chairperson Bright Sikanyika. commended ECZ for the transparent verification exercise.

Mr Sikanyika added that the verification of ballot papers for the Saise Constituency had been completed successfully.

And National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) representative, James Mwambazi, also expressed satisfaction with the process, saying the transparency exhibited during the verification exercise had inspired confidence in the electoral process.

Verification of ballot papers is continuing under the supervision of Electoral Commission of Zambia officials in the presence of stakeholders.
