HAIMBE to Represent President HICHILEMA at UNGA

Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE will represent President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA at the 81st United Nations General Assembly –UNGA- in New York from September 22 to 28, 2026.
Zambia’s participation will focus on advancing national development priorities and foreign policy objectives through partnerships, resource mobilisation and multilateral cooperation.
Mr. HAIMBE is expected to deliver Zambia’s National Statement on behalf of President HICHILEMA during the High-Level General Debate.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation says the Zambian delegation will use the General Assembly to engage international partners on support for the Grow Zambia Agenda.
The delegation will also engage the United Nations system on technical and institutional support for the establishment of a National Architecture for Peace.
According to the Ministry, Zambia is also expected to sign Memoranda of Understanding establishing diplomatic relations with five countries.
Meanwhile, Zambia will co-host high-level side events focusing on sustainable development, climate action, development financing, digital transformation and reform of the multilateral system.
The delegation will further seek support for Zambia’s candidature for the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2027–2029 term.- ZNBC
