Mambwe Chiefs have welcomed the maize floor price increment for the 2026 crop marketing season.

Senior Chief Nsokolo of the Mambwe people and the farming community are happy with the price set by the government.

Speaking on behalf of other traditional leaders, Senior Chief Nsokolo said the increment is meaningful to every farmer.

He said this when Vice President Mutale Nalumango met chiefs in Mbala District today.

The traditional leader also commended the government through the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) for commencing the purchasing exercise.

And Mrs Nalumango has thanked traditional leaders for the continued collaboration with the government in fostering development.

The Vice President said the government values the critical role chiefs play in national building.

She further urged traditional leaders to help promote peace and unity in the country ahead of the August 13 polls.

Other chiefs present at the meeting were Chief Mwamba, Sub-Chief Penza and Sub-Chief Kowa.
