Central Province Principal Public Relations Officer Tobias Phiri says the FRA has so far purchased 102,964.20 metric tonnes of maize through 139 satellite depots across seven districts.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kabwe, Mr Phiri said the province has exceeded its target by 157 percent.
He stated that Serenje is leading in maize purchases with over 23,560 metric tonnes, followed by Kapiri Mposhi with 14,453.20 tonnes, Kabwe with 14,051.40 tonnes and Chibombo with 13,233.20 tonnes.
Luano and Chisamba have contributed 9,355.20 and 8,821.90 metric tonnes, respectively.
Mr Phiri says government has already paid farmers more than K90 million for maize supplied to the FRA.
He has commended farmers for responding positively to the maize marketing programme, but urged them to keep enough grain for household consumption, especially with a drought projected in the coming farming season.
Mr Phiri says the high maize purchases will help strengthen national food security while providing farmers with a ready market for their produce.
