Zambia : Former Kafulafuta MP Endorses President Hichilema

Former Kafulafuta Member of parliament Brian Chitafu has endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema for the upcoming August 13 presidential election and UPND candidate Elen Grigoraki for Kafulafuta Member of Parliament.

Mr Chitafu says his decision follows what he describes as careful reflection on the leadership provided by President Hichilema and the UPND government.

In a statement made available to the media in Ndola, the former lawmaker said President Hichilema has demonstrated economic leadership and has positioned the country on what he calls a path of economic recovery and development.

Mr Chitafu has also endorsed Elen Grigoraki for the Kafulafuta Parliamentary seat saying she has leadership qualities needed in the area.

“She brings the leadership qualities needed to move the constituency forward,” Mr Chitafu said.

He added that Ms Grigoraki has the vision and ability to address issues affecting residents, including jobs, improved economic opportunities and development.

The former MP has since called on voters to participate peacefully in the electoral process, because every citizen has the democratic right to choose their preferred candidate.

Mr Chitafu further appealed to the public for unity and responsible political participation, urging citizens to avoid what he describes as petty political discourse.

And he noted that his endorsement was aimed at supporting continued development in Kafulafuta, the Copperbelt and Zambia as a whole, and has called on kafulafuta residents to unite for a stronger and more developed constituency and country.
