Zambia : Chilanga Records 8 Cholera Cases
Lusaka - Zambia: Acting Chilanga District Commissioner (DC) Maureen Chilende, has disclosed that eight Cholera cases have been recorded in the area.

Ms Chilende says the eight individuals who were found with Cholera have been treated and discharged.
Speaking in an interview with the media, Ms Chilende said the Department of Health is waiting for results of another suspected Cholera case recorded on Tuesday, September 30, from one person in admission at Tubalange Mini Hospital.
She explained that the eight cases were from patients from neighboring Chibombo District in areas bordering Chilanga who sought treatment at health facilities in the district.
Ms. Chilende said the Department of Health is conducting contact tracing to prevent further spread of the disease.
“Clinicians were reoriented and actively looking out for cholera cases in health facilities and we also have Community Based Volunteers (CBVs) who are going in the community to sensitize people on prevention measures and steps to take to prevent cholera,” she emphasised.
Ms. Chilende added that the Department of Health conducted sensitisations sponsored by the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) and Red Cross Society which were mainly done in Game Area in Chilanga Ward and Kazimva in Namalombwe ward.
She said no death has been recorded in the district since the current cholera outbreak was announced by the Ministry of Health.
