This is according to a statement issued by First Secretary for Press and Public Relations Namatama Njekwa.
The commitment was made on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
President Hakainde Hichilema was represented at the bilateral meeting by Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe, who is leading the Zambian delegation.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Chris Kulukundis reaffirmed Zambia’s standing as a strategic partner and congratulated Zambia on President Hichilema’s re-election, according to a statement issued by the Permanent Mission of Zambia to the UN.
The two sides committed to building a forward-looking partnership through investment, value addition and economic cooperation aligned with the Grow Zambia Agenda.
Haimbe said economic diplomacy is central to Zambia’s broader development agenda and that Zambia values its partnership with the US.
The two governments agreed to maintain close communication and continue engagements in Washington and Lusaka.
