United Party for National Development (UPND) parliamentary candidate Mathews Mashimango has been declared the duly elected Member of Parliament for Lumwana constituency in Kalumbila district.

Lumwana constituency Returning Officer Mukelebai Sumbwanyambe declared Mr Mashimango the winner after polling 10,409 votes.

A total of 17,248 votes were cast with547 ballot papers rejected as invalid.

Lumwana constituency has 34,160 registered voters comprising 17,532 females and 16,628 males.

The constituency has six wards with the UPND securing victory in three wards Shilenda, Mwajimwamwambwe, Matebo and Wabituwo ward being won unopposed.

The remaining two wards were won by independent candidates.

The results were announced after the conclusion of the counting and verification process by the Returning Officer.
