President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Felix Tshisekedi has congratulated President-elect Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election following the proclamation of Zambia’s presidential election results.

President Tshisekedi has extended his warmest wishes to his Zambian counterpart, expressing confidence in his continued leadership during his second term.

In a statement Issued to the media  in Lusaka, the Congolese Head of State conveyed his hopes for greater peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of Zambia.

President Tshisekedi acknowledged the strong ties between the DRC and Zambia, noting that the two nations are united by geography, history, and culture.

Mr Tshisekedi expressed optimism that bilateral cooperation between the two countries will continue to be strengthened for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

Meanwhile, the Global Partnership for Africa Development Ltd (GPAD) has also extended congratulations to President- elect Hichilema on his re-election.

In a letter addressed to the President-Elect, GPAD Executive Board Chairman, Edward Nsama commended Mr Hichilema’s leadership, noting that his victory reflects the confidence Zambians and the international community have in his commitment to democratic values and inclusive economic transformation.

Mr Nsama highlighted GPAD’s alignment with the President’s agenda, particularly in areas of job creation, agricultural revolution, and regional integration under the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

“We pledge our continued partnership with your government to advance programs that promote food security, SME growth, value addition, and investment across Zambia and the region,’’ he said.

Mr Nsama further reaffirmed GPAD’s dedication to unlocking Africa’s potential through trade, investment, agriculture, and sustainable development.

He added that the organisation looks forward to presenting proposals aimed at accelerating Africa’s development in partnership with Zambia.
