The rehabilitation of the National Heroes Stadium […]

The rehabilitation of the National Heroes Stadium roof has been delayed following the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts’ failure to find a local contractor capable of undertaking the required works.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Zambian Business Times-ZBT Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Arts Principal Public Relations Officer Nchimunya Ng’andu said K2.6 million was secured through insurance for the roof repairs, which remain unused as the ministry looks for a suitable local company to carry out the works.

Ng’andu said the stadium is insured by the Zambia State Insurance Corporation (ZISC) general insurance, which conducted an assessment of the roof damage before the funds were made available. “The facility is insured by ZISC.

So any damages that happen, we are able to make a claim,” he said.

He said the K2.6 million was specifically intended for repairing the damaged roof, but the ministry has been unable to utilize the funds because it has not found a local contractor with the capacity to undertake the work.
