THE CAMPAIGN IS OVER. IT IS TIME TO WORK.
By Hon. Sunday Chanda
We cannot afford to live in perpetual campaign mode. Elections are important, but elections are not development. The people have spoken; it is now time to work.
There is work to be done: roads to build, hospitals to improve, farmers to support, young people to empower, workers to protect, our environment to preserve and our institutions to strengthen.
Let us move from election mode to delivery mode. We have targets to meet in mining, agriculture, education, health and other sectors. We have provincial economies to build, workers’ welfare to improve, and a duty to create a better life for all; irrespective of political affiliation, tribe or region.
Let us channel our collective thinking and energy into building Zambia. Let us look to countries such as South Korea for inspiration and dare ourselves to surpass them. That should be the conversation, the ambition and the obsession in Zambia.
Let us all give President Hakainde Hichilema the support and space he needs to govern and deliver on the mandate entrusted to him by the Zambian people. Where we disagree, let us offer constructive criticism; where Government succeeds, let us acknowledge it; and where more needs to be done, let us contribute solutions
We must now choose healing over hatred, reconciliation over revenge, and development over perpetual political confrontation
We can disagree politically and still love the same country.
The election is over. Let us heal. Let us unite. Let us get back to work.
One Zambia. One Nation. One People. 🇿🇲
Let us rise and build.
