Elections results from 18 out of 33 polling stations for Mwembezhi East Constituency in Shibuyunji district have been verified and announced.

As of 08:00 hours today, the totaling centre had received results from Makombwe, Nampeya, Nampundwe, Sala and Chikonka Ward respectively.

ZANIS reports that Mwembezhi East Returning Officer Sitali Muwanei said so far United Party for National Development (UPND) Presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema has garnered 6, 175 votes followed by National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Peace (NRPUP) candidate Brian Mundubile with 912 votes.

The returning officer noted that only results for Presidential candidates have been verified and announced.

Mr Muwanei explained that results are still coming from the remaining polling stations and will be announced as they arrive.

He has urged stakeholders to exercise patience as they wait for results.
