ILSKY OIL REFINERY APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN HIT AGAIN

Emerging reports indicate that Ukrainian drones may have reached the Ilsky Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai tonight as Ukrainian long-range drones continued penetrating Russian air defenses across several regions.

The extent of any damage has not yet been confirmed. Until clearer footage, satellite imagery or an official statement emerges, the facility should be described as reportedly struck—not destroyed.

Ilsky is one of southern Russia’s largest refineries, with six processing units and an annual capacity of approximately 6.6 million metric tons of crude oil, equivalent to roughly 132,000 barrels per day. It produces diesel, fuel oil and other petroleum products that support Russia’s domestic economy and southern logistics network.

This would not be the refinery’s first encounter with Ukrainian drones. Ilsky was struck repeatedly earlier this year, including attacks reported on June 2, July 10 and August 8. The August strike caused a fire and injured five people, according to Russian authorities. The facility was also attacked several times in previous years.

Repeatedly striking the same refinery has a cumulative purpose. Even when one attack does not completely halt production, it forces Russia to extinguish fires, inspect equipment, repair damaged units, divert air defenses and absorb recurring interruptions at a strategically important fuel producer

Tonight’s damage assessment is still developing. What is already apparent is that Russian air defenses once again failed to prevent drones from reaching the vicinity of a refinery located roughly 400 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory.
