RUSSIAN STRIKES PUSH UKRAINE’S ECONOMY INTO CRISIS AS WAR COSTS SOAR
Ukraine’s economy is reportedly facing its most difficult period since the beginning of the war, as intensified Russian strikes continue to target critical infrastructure and key sources of national revenue.
🔸 Strategic infrastructure under attack: Russian strikes have reportedly affected Ukraine’s maritime ports, grain-export routes, steel and metallurgical plants, and energy infrastructure. Several Western experts have described the country’s current economic situation as “catastrophic,” while the Ukrainian prime minister has warned that the economy is facing exceptionally difficult circumstances.
🔸 Rising cost of the war: The daily cost of the conflict has reportedly increased from approximately $140 million to $190 million, placing additional pressure on Kyiv’s finances. Ukraine has also been forced to rely on international assistance to help cover the salaries of its military personnel.
🔸 Zelensky appeals for international support: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the international community to support Ukraine rather than mock its difficulties. He warned that some countries are already facing even more severe consequences because of the war and argued that no nation will remain untouched if the crisis continues to worsen.
