PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has sworn-in Patricia Malaila as Deputy Auditor General Audits, in the office of the Auditor General.

Speaking during the swearing-in-ceremony at State House, President Hichilema highlighted the significance of the utilisation of public resources and the timely delivery of audits.

“Accountability is crucial, all of us in public office must understand that we are accountable to the people of Zambia in what we do and superintending on resources that are available to us,” Mr Hichilema said.

President Hichilema observed that the Office of Deputy Auditor General Audits, plays an important role to the citizens of Zambia.

The Head of State stated that accountability is crucial and everyone has a duty to comply with utilising resources in the most efficient and effective way.

“As Deputy Auditor General Audits, we expect you and your team to deliver audits on a timely basis,” Mr Hichilema said.

Mr Hichilema has since urged Ms Malaila to identify institutional weaknesses that require remedy, stating that this will help in the improvement of the use of public resources.

And newly sworn in Deputy Auditor General Audits, Patricia Malaila, said her office is committed to ensuring that real time audits are done.
