President Hakainde Hichilema has appreciated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its continued bilateral relations through increased investments, trade, and other partnerships between Zambia and the UAE.

The Head of State made these remarks when out-going United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador accredited to Zambia and Zimbabwe, Jassim Al Qasimi paid a farewell courtesy call on him at State House today.

Mr Hichilema expressed that there is a need for further deepening of bonds between the two countries for mutual benefit of the people through enhanced trade and investments.

To further strengthen the bond, the Head of State highlighted the need for having a sole embassy established in Zambia by the UAE, citing that this would enhance cooperation and facilitate trade and investments between the two countries.

“We would like you to have the embassy resident here. We would like to deepen this bond by having your presence here,” The President emphasised.

Mr Hichilema also offered his sincere message to the UAE for peace to return to the middle east soon, following the conflict there, noting that this has affected the world’s global consumption of petroleum products.

“In today’s world, we don’t need conflict. What we need is trade, investments, partnership and mutual growth,” he said.

The out-going United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador accredited to Zambia and Zimbabwe Jassim Al Qasimi thanked the Zambian government for having worked seamlessly with his government.

Dr Al Qasimi also appreciated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for cooperating with his government in various developments during his tenure.
