NRPUP scoops Nchanga parliamentary seat

National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) Candidate, Rosemary Chipoya, has won the Nchanga Parliamentary seat in Chingola.

Ms Chipoya scored 20,302 votes beating his closest rival Francesca Akashambatwa of the United Party for National Development (UPND).

Independent Candidate, Kaira Mulaza, came third with 5,118 votes while the Patriotic Front (PF) candidate, Nkonde Paul, took the fourth position with only 94 votes.

Nchanga Constituency Returning Officer, Felix Kahanji, declared Ms Chipoya as duly elected Member of Parliament for Nchanga Constituency today at 05:42hrs.

Mr Kahanji stated that there was a total number of 33,092 cast votes and 511 rejected ones.

Nchanga has a total number of 57,072 registered voters.

Meanwhile, counting of votes for Chingola Central and Chingola West is still underway.
