Mwense District Administrative Officer Philip Muonga has cautioned community members against politicising government programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of citizens.
Mr Muonga said President Hakainde Hichilema had directed that all eligible beneficiaries of various government programmes should benefit regardless of their political affiliation.
He said this during the flag-off of the distribution of farming inputs under the 2026 Food Security Pack (FSP) in Mwense District.
Mr Muonga assured residents that all eligible beneficiaries would be considered under the programme, which he said was intended to benefit citizens across the district.
Under the social protection programme, 1,000 vulnerable but viable households in Mwense District are being targeted to improve household incomes and food security.
Mr Muonga also urged beneficiary households not to sell the farming inputs, saying his office had received reports of some beneficiaries engaging in the practice.
Meanwhile, FSP beneficiaries have commended government for promoting wetland farming in the district.
Kabelenga Katebe, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, said the initiative had contributed significantly to improving household food security.
Mr Katebe said wetland farming had also helped improve household nutrition and contributed to efforts to address stunting.
He expressed gratitude to President Hichilema for the FSP inputs, saying they were helping households enhance food security.
“Wetland farming has also contributed towards improving nutritional status thereby helping in addressing stunting, we are grateful to the President for the FSP inputs, they really help in enhancing household food security,” Mr Kabelenga said.
