Nchelenge Town Council Secretary Benson Malama has urged beneficiaries of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) grants to use the funds strictly for the purposes outlined in their respective project proposals.

Mr Malama said this when he addressed 70 beneficiaries and cautioned them against sharing the money among themselves immediately after receiving the grants.

He said such practices could undermine the objectives of the CDF programme and prevent beneficiaries from achieving the intended benefits.

“Stop the habit of sharing the money amongst yourselves immediately after receiving the grant. The money has been given to you for a specific purpose, and you should ensure that it is used for that purpose,” Mr Malama said.

He urged beneficiaries to remain committed to implementing the projects for which the grants were approved and avoid diverting the funds to activities that were not included in their proposals.

“Stick to your project proposals because that is what was assessed and approved. You must make sure that the money is put into the project so that it can benefit all the members of the group,” Mr Malama said.

Mr Malama explained that CDF grants were intended to improve the livelihoods of beneficiaries by supporting sustainable income-generating activities (IGAs) and promoting economic empowerment.
