Voting has commenced in Kazimolwa Ward in Mbala Central Constituency of Mbala district, with most polling stations opening at 06:00 hours.

In some polling stations long queues were recorded as early as 04:30 hours with voters turning up early in readiness to cast their votes.

At Celeste Polling Station, which has four polling streams with 950 registered voters each, more than 500 voters had already lined up by 04:30 hours.

Celeste Polling Stations one and four, Presiding Officers Joe Soko and Samson Phiri respectively, officially opened the polling stations at 06:00 hours, while Celeste Polling Station two, Presiding Officer Astridah Hamusangu, officially opened at 06:20 hours.

Celeste Polling Station three, Presiding Officer Garricker Makasa, officially opened the polling station at 06:12 hours.

At Chila Polling Station, which has two polling streams with 747 registered voters each, voters turned up as early as 03:00 hours.

Meanwhile, both polling stations at Council TVMI opened at 06:00 hours. Council TVMI-01, Presiding Officer Andrew Sichilima, described the voter turnout as overwhelming.

One of the voters, Snevia Chele, who was among the first people to cast their vote at Celeste Polling Station, expressed happiness that she has exercised her right to vote in the 2026 general elections.

Ms Chele called on other Zambians to turn out in large numbers to cast their votes, saying voting is a civic responsibility.

Another Mbala resident, Abraham Bambala, who cast his vote at Chila Polling Station has expressed happiness with the process which he described as transparent.

Mr Bambala further urged residents to vote for leaders of their choice who would bring development to the area.

Kazimolwa Ward has a total of 15,970 registered voters.

Meanwhile, at Kawama Polling Station in Kawimbe Ward in Saise Constituency a total of 659 registered voters are expected to participate in the electoral process.

One of the voters Derrick Kaleo, who was among the first to cast his vote, said he arrived at the polling station at around 04:00 hours.

Mr Kaleo described the atmosphere at the polling station as peaceful and urged voters to maintain the peace throughout the electoral process.
