A football analyst has raised concern with Lameck Banda’s dispute with Italian club Lecce after reports emerged that the club has reported the matter to FIFA over the player’s absence from duty, demanding a sum of $12 million.

The Chipolopolo winger failed to show up for the pre-season and the club earlier issued a warning over disciplinary measures, recently it was reported that Banda has been in talks with Libyan club Al Swehli SC.

At the same time, the winger was unhappy with Lecce extending his contract, revealing that this was a mistake on the part of the agent for failing to explain the content of the contract which was written in Italian.

This has ultimately raised huge concerns over players really understanding the contents of the contract before committing.

However analysts have raised questions over the long term implications of the matter on the player, with some observing that this likely to injure his reputation on the international front especially with major clubs.

“He shouldn’t be involved in such transfer saga’s, $12 million is a big fine even if it was imposed on him, where can he get such an amount, it’s the way he conducted himself in as much as he may have issues with Lecce, he should have dealt with it in a much sober manner,” said football analyst Augustine Mwanza.

He revealed that normally the first person who reports to FIFA has higher chances of winning the case, and the player is likely to be penalized for the behavior.

Mwanza lamented that the player’s reputation is likely to be injured, especially with the big clubs, who are particular about the player’s track record of conduct.

“Now these big clubs they won’t trust him, and in a much as he might secure the deal, he might part ways with them the same way he has done with Lecce.”

Reports have emerged that the player has reached an agreement with the Libyan Club, however it remains to be seen how far the dispute will go, with some analysts observing that the switch is a huge downgrade.
