KYIV DENIES REPORT TRUMP URGED ZELENSKYY TO MEET PUTIN IN MOSCOW

Ukraine’s Presidential Office has denied a Bloomberg report claiming that President Donald Trump urged President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to travel to Moscow for a meeting with Vladimir Putin.

Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the private discussion, reported that Trump raised the proposal during his September 22 meeting with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. The outlet said Zelenskyy rejected it and was upset that Trump had raised the idea again.

Ukraine’s Presidential Office subsequently told Ukrainska Pravda that Bloomberg’s account was “false information.”

Additional reporting attributed to Ukrainian sources said the two presidents discussed the possibility of trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia and the United States, but that Trump did not propose Moscow as the venue.

The Kremlin has repeatedly insisted that Zelenskyy may travel to Moscow if he wants to meet Putin, attempting to place the Ukrainian president inside the aggressor’s capital and on Putin’s terms.

For now, the only confirmed public position from Kyiv is clear: Ukraine denies that Trump made the Moscow proposal during the New York meeting.
