IRANIAN UN DELEGATION STRANDED IN AMERICA AS US SANCTIONS SHUT DOWN IRAN’S AIRSPACE

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced major disruptions to Iranian air travel under “Operation Economic Outcast,” estimating that 80–90% of Iran’s international flights have been grounded due to secondary US sanctions.

Bessent says he is “not sure” how Iranian leaders will get home now that the airspace is effectively locked for flights to Iran.

The move leaves Iran’s UN delegation stuck in the United States with no clear route back to Tehran.
